About Napua Davoy

An extraordinary artist, Napua Davoy has produced these past three years a staggering amount of work in her first two staged productions STELLA RISING and MIAMI.

A short time ago vocalist/pianist/songwriter Davoy formed Brave Cool World to produce original jazz recordings.  Her collaboration with pianist/composer Andrei Kondakov from St.Petersburg, Russia spawned 3 albums of mostly original music.  Davoy's subsequent forays into theatre via avant-garde opera lead her to restudy classical voice, become an actress, a playwright and then a serious composer.  Both STELLA RISING and MIAMI comprise dramatic arias penned for their most harrowing moments.

Davoy resides in New York City and is currently scoring vocal arrangements for MIAMI which is a large musical where she brews a rich melange of classical and jazz music.  She calls her work "jazzical".  And she is readying STELLA RISING for its launch. The story of a cross-cultural-post WWII marriage gone awry and the Baby Boomer children spawned in its conflict, STELLA RISING takes us from Tokyo to Oklahoma and from religious fanaticism to the serenity of Zen.   This heartbreaking yet uplifting story is told through the portrayal of a family of characters, movement and the singing of songs that cover the gamut from Blues to Opera. And all is saved by the hot topic - one of the most dreaded diseases of the day -  Alzheimer's .  

Davoy had musical training as a child through the choirs in school and church.  She earned  Bachelors and Masters degrees in German Literature and Philosophy, attended Oxford University in England to read history and became a jazz pianist in her late twenties.  Her recent moves into writing plays, acting, dancing, painting and composing classical music, she explains, are results of her having learned to meditate.

Originally from Beaumont, Texas, plans are already under way for bringing MIAMI to Broadway with The Manhattan Transfer  as the Greek Chorus.
